Kerkvliet Cadet World Champion!

Daniel Kerkvliet won the Cadet World Championships in Athens, Greece. Kervliet won four matches to win the championship at 100KG. In the finals Kerkvliet beat Ismail Nirov from Russia in the finals. Simley Wrestling 3 Individual Champs…

The Simley wrestling team qualified 10 wrestlers to the individual state tournament. 5 wrestlers placed in their respective weight classes and three wrestlers, Jake Gliva at 126lbs, Anthony Jackson at 152lbs and Daniel Kerkvliet at 195lbs won state championships. Here are the final results:   106 Cael Berg -4th place 113 Ryan Sokol- 3rd place


The Simley wrestling team placed 2nd in the Class AA state tournament. Simley defeated Grand Rapids in the quarterfinals 43-19. In the semi-finals Simley defeated an undefeated Scott West team 44-19. The team advanced to wrestle Kasson Mantorville in the finals. Simley lost 41-19. The team finished the season with a 30-5 record.


The Simley wrestling team defeated Hastings 28-24 to win the 2017 Metro East Conference Championship. This is the 16th consecutive conference championship. The Spartans have won 115 conference dual meets in a row.   Congratulations to the Simley wrestling team.

Simley Wrestling Beats South St Paul 47-13

The Simley wrestling team improved their record to 5-0 in the Metro East Conference and 20-3 overall. 10 Simley wrestlers won their matches. Daniel Kerkvliet, Luke Zaiser, Ryan Sokol and Brad Dohmen all had falls. Jake Gliva had a major decision on the #3 ranked wrestler at his weight.

Daniel “Greg” Kerkvliet wins the Cheeshead… Simley 12th.

The Simley wrestling team participated in the 19th annual Cheesehead tournament in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. Simley Placed 12th out of 32 teams and had five wrestlers place in the top 8. At heavyweight, Luke Zaiser was seeded 10th but managed to place 7th. Zach Moon came in seeded 9th but managed a couple of upsets to

Sokol and Short Honored at Twins Game

  Ryan Sokol and Quayin Short participated on the Minnesota Schoolboy National team that competed in Indianapolis in May. The team from Minnesota won the national championship in freestyle and in greco-roman wrestling. Ryan and Quayin will be honored at the Minnesota Twins game on Saturday at Target field.

Kerkvliet and Jackson All Americans

Greg Kerkvliet placed 3rd at 195lbs at the USA Cadet Freestyle National championships in Fargo, North Dakota. Greg had over 70 wrestlers from 48 states in his weight division. Greg won 8 matches and his only loss came to the eventual champion 12-10. Anthony Jackson placed 4th at 152lbs. Anthony went 5-2 on the tournament.
