Simley Wrestling MEC Conference Champs!

The Simley wrestling team finished their conference season 7-0 Thursday night. Simley defeated the Hastings Raiders 56-10. Simley dominated the dual meet from start to finish. The Simley wrestling team competed in three dual meets on Friday, December 1st in Chisago Lakes. The Spartans went 3-0. Kerkvliet Cadet World Champion!

Daniel Kerkvliet won the Cadet World Championships in Athens, Greece. Kervliet won four matches to win the championship at 100KG. In the finals Kerkvliet beat Ismail Nirov from Russia in the finals. Simley Wrestling 3 Individual Champs…

The Simley wrestling team qualified 10 wrestlers to the individual state tournament. 5 wrestlers placed in their respective weight classes and three wrestlers, Jake Gliva at 126lbs, Anthony Jackson at 152lbs and Daniel Kerkvliet at 195lbs won state championships. Here are the final results:   106 Cael Berg -4th place 113 Ryan Sokol- 3rd place


The Simley wrestling team placed 2nd in the Class AA state tournament. Simley defeated Grand Rapids in the quarterfinals 43-19. In the semi-finals Simley defeated an undefeated Scott West team 44-19. The team advanced to wrestle Kasson Mantorville in the finals. Simley lost 41-19. The team finished the season with a 30-5 record.


The Simley wrestling team defeated Hastings 28-24 to win the 2017 Metro East Conference Championship. This is the 16th consecutive conference championship. The Spartans have won 115 conference dual meets in a row.   Congratulations to the Simley wrestling team.
