The Simley Girls Volleyball team traveled to Hill-Murray on Thursday, September 13th, where the Pioneers played like the perennial Metro East champions they are. But the Spartans refused to go down easily as after dropping the first sets, Simley fought back to gain control of the third set midway through and run away comfortably to a 25-19 win. The fourth set was back and forth most of the way until the home team took advantage of a ball rolling along the top of the net to barely fall in and a couple of near misses to close out the match. Simley played gamely to almost turn the match around on a night where Hill-Murray was clicking on all cylinders and can take great pride in the way the players picked up each other early, found their typical game midway through the match, lost only after a great effort down the stretch after playing three matches in three nights. Offensive hightlights included Senior Adara Kellogg with 13 kills and Junior Sydney Stensgard hitting .500 with no errors and 9 kills. Defensive highlights found the Nuggets with 25 digs and Junior Tiawaah Danso with 4 blocks.
