It was a tale of two types of games when Simley Volleyball traveled to Park for an always competitive non-conference match-up on Monday, October 8th. The Spartans dominated all phases of the game in sets 1 & 3 (25-10/25-16) and grittily hung in there for a never give in win in set 2 (28-26). Simley charged out of the gate with an almost error free first set that set the Wolfpack back on their heels. Dig after dig, kill after kill, and block after block saw the Spartans play probably their best set of the season. Set two found two teams trading good play followed by good play with both teams enjoying set points and fending off the other until Junior TeTe Danso found the top of the Park block for the 28th point and moved the momentum back to the Spartans. Set three was competitive early until Junior Emma Heimerl served ten points in a row to remove any doubt as to the outcome. Sounding like a broken record this season, the entire squad contributed to another classic team win. The offense was mighty on Monday with 50 kills in only three sets, as the team hit .568 with a measly FOUR errors, the Spartans most efficient high flying offense of the season. The defense was solid and offered the Wolfpack no hope for any sustained scoring runs. But inter scholastic athletics teaches lessons off the court as well. This night it taught one of our seniors to not leave her jersey on her closet floor where her cat can get to it.
