It was a collaborative team effort Thursday, as Simley Girls Hockey beat Woodbury 6-0. Several players had a multi points game, as the Spartans dominated right from puck drop. Sophie Roche began the scoring frenzy in the 1st period, with her first varsity career goal. (A. Boughton, A. Fredeen) Molly Illetschko added another, shortly thereafter (Z. Boughton, O. Juers). Molly would score again in the 2nd period, (K. Johnson, A. Jeffers) while the Spartans were on the power play, and Zoe Boghton would put the game basically out of reach with a goal (S. Roche, A. Fredeen) to make it 4-0 at the end of two. The Spartans would get 2 more goals in the 3rd from Molly Illetschko for the hat trick, (O. Juers) and Kendall Johnson (E. Tuccitto, A. Jeffers). A strong defensive game kept the Royals to 7 shots on goal. Goaltender Ava Patnode earned her 4th shutout of the season, stopping all seven shots. Saturday night’s upcoming game brings South St. Paul to VMCC. Puck drops are 5 and 7.
