The Simley girls golf team of Captain Britta Iverson, Captain Rachael Wolfe, Senior Kylie Seeling, Senior Abby Stein, Sophomore Jordan Juers, and Eighth Grader Isabella McCauley spent their Friday playing in day one of the AAA class section three golf tournament at Bunker Hills Golf Club. It was a day well spent. The team was among the five teams in the 11-team section to advance to day two on Monday, becoming the second team in the history of Simley girls golf to accomplish that feat. The third place Friday finish is the best in school history. Simley finds themselves in the middle of a very competitive section heading into day-two, anything can happen. Among the many highlights from the Friday round were a steady round from Senior Abby Stein who displayed the kind of consistency any good team needs from its’ senior leaders. A gutsy round from Junior Captain Rachael Wolfe, who maintained focus despite some cruel bounces and breaks from the golf gods. A Season-best 18-hole score from Senior Captain Britta Iverson, who continues rise to every big challenge this season, and defending Section 3AAA champion Isabella McCauley used a brief pre-round nap on her golf bag to set up a round of superb ball striking on her way to an even par 72 and a seven-stroke lead among individuals. The Spartans will return to Bunker Hills Golf Club on Monday for the final day of the Section Tournament.
