Congratulations to the Simley Boys Golf team for its devastating win over conference rivals Hill-Murray and Mahtomedi. Clinging to a tenuous lead in the standings over the perennially strong Pioneers and Zephyrs, the Spartans welcomed their opponents to Inver Wood in the best way possible firing a season best 152, which is also the 4th best nine-hole team score in program history. Dragging himself from his sick bed in Michael Jordan fashion, Senior James Royce (more than just a caddy) shot the best score of his golfing career, an even par 36. Inspired, Senior Jamie Warrick and Junior Ben Borchard added 38’s, while Senior Evan Schultz and Freshman Zach Painter followed closely with matching 40’s, with 8th grader Josh Painter just out of the money but with a strong round. The victory kept the Spartans in the hunt for the Metro East championship.
