Monday afternoon, the Spartans played host to conference opponent North Saint Paul. On a great afternoon for baseball, the Spartans got themselves back in the win column in conference play.
The offense was steady and consistent throughout the game, manufacturing 3 runs on 11 hits. The offense was led by seniors Wyatt Rogers and Noah Roitman. Both players tallied multiple hits and Rogers was credited with an RBI.
On the defensive side of the ball, Trent Peterson was dominant on the mound. Peterson went 6 innings scattering only 3 hits and racking up 5 strikeouts. In addition to the great performance on the mound, Peterson also helped his own cause offensively going 2 for 3 at the plate. With a 2 run lead in the 7th, sophomore Ben Vujovich came in and recorded the save, retiring all 3 batters that came to the plate.
The Spartans are back in action Tuesday afternoon as they take on the Mahtomedi Zephyrs at home. First pitch is slated for 4:15
