The Simley Boys hockey team got off to a fast start Saturday night taking a 3-0 lead through two periods outshooting the host Packers 30-6. The third period saw the Spartans scoring 4 goals but a scrappy SSP scored five of their own to make things interesting. The Spartans took a commanding 6-2 lead midway through the final period only to give up 3 goals before Senior FW #13 Tanner Redner score the 7th Spartan goal to give the Spartans some breathing room and their first conference and section victory! Leading the way for the Spartans was #17 Justin Warrick with a goal and 3 assist. #28 Jayar Luedke and #10 Casey Seidl with 2 goals each. Junior #6 Josh Painter and Sophomore #25 Cade Renslow each had 2 assists in the victory. Next up for the Spartans, St. Thomas Academy visits the Spartans Tuesday night. Game times are 5:00pm (jv) and 7:00pm (varsity).
