Overtime wasn’t enough to settle the score between the Simley Spartans and Tartan Titans last night at max capacity (2 spectators per skater) Veteran’s Memorial. When will High School Hockey adopt the shoot out? The Titans got off to a fast start taking a 2-0 lead before Sr. Captain #5 Cooper Bollmann drove down the right side and tucked one on the short side shelf. The Spartans tied the game 2-2 early in the 2nd period with a beautiful goal by Jr. Center #10 Casey Seidl when he carried the puck off the half-boards and buried it in the top corner. The Spartans took a 3-2 lead midway through the 2nd period when #35 Junior Goaltender Logan Suchy made a heads up play to headman the puck to Sr. Right Winger # 17 Justin Warrick who slide a silky pass to Jr. Center #6 Josh Painter for the score. The Spartans found themselves down 4-3 to start the 3rd period but were not going to be denied. Jr. Left Winger #28 Jayar Luedke tied the game with a gritty play on top of the Titans crease. It was Luedke’s 3rd point of the night as he also contributed a couple of helpers. Junior Goalie Logan Suchy made some big saves in the 3rd and overtime to preserve the tie. #33 Justin Roitman also contributed 2 assists on the night. Overall, a good start for the Spartans.
