Simley activities director, Will Short has announced the hiring of Chris Mensen as the new Head Football Coach for the 2019-20 season. Chris will replace former Head Coach Rex King.

Coach Mensen has been a member of the Simley football staff for 9 years. Coach Mensen has served  as the Offensive Coordinator for the past eight seasons.  The Spartan offense, under Coach Mensen saw some of its best years statistically including several players with 1000+ rushing yards and a trip to the Prep Bowl in 2014. Before coming to Simley, Coach Mensen served as the head coach for Vessey Leadership Academy and led the Cadets to their first win in program history.

Coach Mensen played his high school football in Solon, IA where he helped the Spartans to a State Runner-up finish in 2003 and accumulated 12 athletic letters in 4 different sports. He continued his playing career for the University of Minnesota and was named Academic All-Big Ten in 2008 and 2009. After college, Coach Mensen played 3 years for the Minnesota Dragons and was named to the NEFL All-Star team in his final two years. Coach Mensen will strive to develop phenomenal young men through hard work and toughness while pursuing excellence in the classroom, on the field of competition and in the community.

Coach Mensen is married to Nichol and they have three children; Evan (7), Axel (4), and Adaline (2).
