Spartans News · Simley Wrestling wins the Minnesota Christmas Tournament…

Th Simley Wrestling team won the Minnesota Christmas Tournament for the first time since 1989. The Spartans had a great team performance over the two day tournament. The Tournament featured all the top teams in the state of Minnesota along with many top teams from Wisconson, Iowa, Oklahoma and Illinois.
At 120lbs freshman Chase DeBleare managed to win 7 matches and place third in his bracket.
At 132lbs sophomore Ryan Sokol won the Championship in dominate fashion. Ryan defeated two state champions along the way to his title.
Antonio Everett got upset early in the tournament and fought his way back to 5th place finishing the tournament with a 7-2 record.
At 152LBS 8th grader Gavin Nelson went 5-2 and finished 7th.
At 160lbs senior captani Jacob Hageman finished 4th .
At 170lbs junior Nolan Wanzek moved up a weight class and finshed 8th.
At 182lbs sophomre Quayin Short finished 3rd and went 6-1.
At 195lbs Bennet Tabor finished third and went 6-1.

The Spartans are home on Friday, December 21 against top ranked AAA teams Bemidji and St. Michael.
