Simley CC Shows Improvement at Conference Preview Meet

On Tuesday, Sep. 12th, the Simley CC team showed great improvement from a year ago.

In the non-scored combined gender Jr. High 2000 Meter Race (We believe the distance is closer to 2500), the young Spartans shined.

Nico Losinski won the race in 10:45, followed by teammates Jacob Scheffer and Nathan Schauer in 11:24 and 11:25 respectively for 4th and 5th place.  Also in the top 10 were Henry Cleary (6th, 11:58), Caleb Brinkman (12:29, 7th), Julia Myers – 1st girl (8th, 12:42), Grace Raab (9th, 13:22), and Crystal Bonilla (10th, 13:32).

Remaining Simley runners finished as follows:

Riley Kepler – 11th, 13:36

Alex Anaya – 12th, 13:37

Shiraj Chowdhudry – 15th, 14:17

Carter Gibson – 16th, 14:35

Stella Anderson Moye – 19th, 16:15

In the Girls 5000 Meters Brekken Grathen made her long race debut to finish 37th in a stellar 25:13, while Captain Becca Molstad just missed her course pr from last year’s conference championship by 3 seconds, running 26:29.  Becca’s time was 90 seconds faster than a year ago at this time.

In the Boys 5000 Meter race, the Spartans showed that summer training pays off with a 5th place finish with a score of 123 points.  That’s highest finish in a conference competition, whether at the preview or championship this millennia.

They ran the following performances

Tim Wilmot – 11th place, 18:35 (30 secs. faster than a year ago, 16 sec course PR)

Nick Molstad – 16th place, 18:51 (Over 2 minutes faster than a year ago, 1 minute PR) and 15 second overall PR
